WHAT IS SOMATIC DREAM YOGA?

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra says: “Study thy self, discover the divine” II.44

Dream Yoga is a way of life. A way of yoking the body, mind and soul through the lens of the dream world. A way of studying ourselves and cultivating symbolic sight to understand and see all of life as a dream.

My live and private group classes pull from: yogic philosophy, mythology, Tibetan Dream Yoga, Toltec and Curanderismo practices/beliefs as well as my training in somatic attachment repair and Taoist & Qigong-based energy practices. I work extensively with the Tarot with what I call “Dream Tarot” and Oracle cards as a means of teaching and cultivating this symbolic sight to begin to see the world and your life as a dream. This in turn helps to cultivate a deeper understanding of our nighttime dreams as well — merging the two into one magical life. When we can see life this way, we can gain a deeper empowered understanding of our place in relationships and the greater world to make more embodied, responsive choices. We learn to be with the uncomfortable and take personal accountability for our lives so that we can be with what is and move with grace from there.

Somatics are all about getting into your body, or becoming “embodied”. The body acts like a dream and has so much wisdom for us if we slow down long enough to listen. All of my classes take this into account and guide you back into the felt sense and grounding nature of the body to create a deeper relationship with self and soul.

Dream Yoga focuses on “Svadhyaya” or “self-study” within the context of yogic philosophy. It is the second Niyama within the 8 Limbs of Yoga. Together, in class we will work through:

    Every Monday from 7:30pm-9pm we practice in the yoga studio at Pleasure Point Yoga in Santa Cruz, CA and virtually online.

I offer live and virtual guided Liminal Meditation classes to connect you deeper to your body, mind and soul.
